Requested move
editThe move-to location (Matt Williams) is the simplest form. Currently it is only a redirect. A hatnote () can be added to this article. →Wordbuilder (talk) 16:00, 16 November 2008 (UTC)
- This is never going to fly. You're suggesting that a college place kicker gets the article name without disambiguation over all the other Matt Williams? No chance, per WP:SNOW. Shawn in Montreal (talk) 19:41, 16 November 2008 (UTC)
- Oppose the redirect does not redirect here And you moved the old Matt Williams page to the "(dab)" location, even though there's an MLB player by the same name! This article didn't even exist last month. Why shouldn't the MLB player take priority to this non-NFL player? He's not in the NFL. REVERT the undiscussed move of the dab page. 76.66.201.13 (talk) 06:23, 17 November 2008 (UTC)
- I didn't move anything. Please consult the histories of Matt Williams and Matthew Williams (disambiguation) for more infromation. →Wordbuilder (talk) 15:00, 17 November 2008 (UTC)
- Oops, sorry, I misread the two lines, your edit just preceded the move. 76.66.201.13 (talk) 04:16, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
- No problem. Easy mistake. →Wordbuilder (talk) 14:08, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
- Oppose. There are seven other articles that use the name Matt Williams. This one is not primary usage. Station1 (talk) 07:29, 17 November 2008 (UTC)
- Oppose Both the first name and the last name are very common English language names. There is nothing that suggests this "Matt Williams" is the end-all-be-all of Wikipedia searchers. --Bejnar (talk) 23:50, 17 November 2008 (UTC)
- Oppose. Matt Williams currently redirects to Matthew Williams (disambiguation), as it should, unless Matthew Williams (disambiguation) is moved to Matthew Williams (which is currently about the baseball player), which it arguably should, in which case Matt Williams should redirect to Matthew Williams. In any case, no way is the college place kicker the primary topic for Matt Williams. --Born2cycle (talk) 05:22, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
- Okay, I'm convinced. I withdraw the proposal. →Wordbuilder (talk) 14:08, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
