Interestingly enough, while Denaro may be on the FBI's radar, I can't find any info on him from the FBI website. And the gangstersinc website is about the only place I can find info. Maybe if someone could find anymore info on him would be appreciated. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.174.30.26 (talk) 12:14, 21 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

The New Boss

edit

He has been officially named as Provenzano's successor. [1]

Maybe this article should contain that information. Then again even though Provenzano wishes Denaro to take his place it might not happen. Maybe we wait? Your call. --Alexbonaro 05:13, 27 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

All this talk about "capi di tutti capi" is a lot of nonsens. No pentito ever mentioned it. The Mafia is not a hierarchical organisation with a "boss of bosses" at the top. It is more like a federation of independent families. Mafia Expert 22:28, 11 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Claim of introduction by singer

edit

The article said

Messina Denaro began his criminal career at the age of 18 as a bodyguard and a professional killer according to a book by Petra Reski after being introduced by singer Elena Zagorskaya [mk] to the D'Ali family

[1]

I don't have the book to check - if it does say this then the text is valid - but the article and sources clearly establish that Matteo's father was connected with the D'Alis, so I've removed this from the article, please reinstate if it's supported.

The statement has since been been reinstated, with an additional source added. Pol098 (talk) 18:30, 16 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
I remove it, it is not verifiable. The Daily Mirror is not a reliable source for a WP:BLP because it is listed yellow at WP:RSP, see WP:DAILYMIRROR. The book is a reliable source, and makes absolutely no mention of the singer. Instead, it says that Matteo Messina Denaro is the son of Mafia boss Francesco Messina Denaro, which is also what other RSes say [2] [3]. Matteo was never "introduced" to the family, he was born into it. This error is an example of why there is no consensus that the Mirror is reliable. Levivich (talk) 18:50, 16 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
Someone is adding this completely nonsense allegation about Messina Denaro being a Mafia boss thanks to an unknown singer. He was the son of a Mafia boss who have been working with the D'ali family. Before adding nonsense citation, please make sure you know something about Mafia.Guest9698528888 (talk) 20:05, 17 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
I removed it again, and just a reminder that WP:DAILYMIRROR is yellow at RSP, both the article subject and the singer are WP:BLPs, and nothing should be in the lead that's not in the body. Levivich (talk) 20:28, 17 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
