Spurious attempt at deletion

edit

Some ideological deletionist defaced this page yesterday with a claim that the article is up for deletion because it "[l]acks notable third-party online references." Now, what the hell does that mean? The guy runs significant blogs and has an attested publishing history. You think that a couple of interviews from other sites, or just blog links back to his homepages or blogs, somehow achieves "notability" while the sum of Haughey's career doesn't? Give us a break, please.

And in any event, deletionists are never happy with a single reason to nuke an article. If we gave you these "notable third-party online references," you'd post the article for deletion yet again because there weren't enough references from newspapers. – joeclark 19:10, 4 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Joe, there is no need for a personal attack on another editor. The article does lack third-party references, which means it violates the attribution policy. Without reliable sources it is questionable whether people on AFD would vote to keep, so I'm adding them instead of complaining. Wikipedia in 2007 is a very different place than it was in even 2005. --Dhartung | Talk 23:53, 4 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

I feel like this page should be deleated. He is going on a site that I very much enjoy and spamming it with refrences to his Wikipedia page. Colgarcia1 14:55, 6 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Colgarcia1, share with us the site you're talking about -- the one that Matt Haughey is allegedly defacing -- and we'll talk then. I for one doubt that Matt is doing any such thing, however; show us some sort of proof. --Jason t c 00:33, 7 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
