Neutrality
editI don't know enough about the subject to correct this article, but it is pretty clear someone has recently added a bunch of vitriolic opinion accusing this woman of yellow journalism. I suspect it is related to Michael Jackson's death - that is how I cam across this article. She covered the most controversial accusations against Jackson.
Probably some of the criticism of her should stay, or be sourced, and cited as opinion or negative reactions to her work. Obviously there is a lot of cleanup to do here, to separate the opinions into an opinion section etc. Sorry, I just came across this person now so I know nothing about her that isn't written here so I can't improve this though I'm sure she isn't as bad as the writer makes her out to be.
Good luck to anyone taking this work on. If I had more time I would check the history as maybe all the really biased writing occured in a single edite that can be removed? But to prevent future vandalism some inclusion of the contentious topics in a more NPOV form would probably help.

- Yes, much of what's been edited there is clearly a violation of Wikipedia's biography guidelines. I'd venture to guess that this was done by a user with a Michael Jackson agenda. I'll take a look at it. Larry Dunn (talk) 15:36, 30 September 2009 (UTC)

Year of birth
editDoes anyone have a reference for her year of birth? We have a reference that she graduated from college in 1964, so 1942 seems reasonable, but a reference to verify the year would be helpful. --Crunch (talk) 22:43, 19 June 2008 (UTC)
- Never mind. I found it here: People magazine --Crunch (talk) 22:50, 19 June 2008 (UTC)]
Request edit 1

I work for a firm that represents Maureen Orth, and have a few verifiable citations, edits, corrections and additions we’d like to ask the community to please make. Here is the first batch:
- Here is a citation from the Peace Corps as a reference for the second sentence of the first summary paragraph: [1]
- Can you please update the “Education and Early Career” section to include Orth’s two degrees: Orth graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in political science, and she also received a master’s degree in journalism and documentary film from UCLA, following her time in the Peace Corps (cited in the article above). Source: [2]
- In the Journalism career section, can you please add that prior to working as one of the first female writers for Newsweek, she was a founding member of TVTV. Source: http://mediaburn.org/video/worlds-largest-tv-studio/
Many thanks. 50.242.240.41 (talk) 18:45, 3 April 2015 (UTC) Done. Amortias (T)(C) 17:12, 11 May 2015 (UTC)

Based on my knowledge of Maureen Orth, I agree that this article is quite biased and only tenuously based on facts. |

Bibliography
editI have commenced a tidy-up of the Bibliography section using cite templates. Capitalization and punctuation follow standard cataloguing rules in AACR2 and RDA, as much as Wikipedia templates allow it. Feel free to continue. Sunwin1960 (talk) 12:35, 24 June 2016 (UTC)

To add to article
editBasic information to add to this article, in order to help make it more properly encyclopedic: information about her ethnic heritage. Is she of partly Italian American heritage through her mother? And what is the ethnic/national origin of the surname "Orth"? 98.123.38.211 (talk) 00:26, 5 July 2024 (UTC)
