Information to be added after the third paragraph: Summerfield, in 1980, edited and published Ivor Mairants biography, 'My Fifty Fretting Years'. Then in 1981, he published an updated and enlarged English edition of his friend Charles Delaunay's 1961 biography of Django Reinhardt.

• Summerfield is not listed as editor of the Mairants biography (OCLC 939759953).
• A direct connection between Summerfield and Ivor Mairants / Django Reinhardt is tenuous, because their main shared connection is through the Ashley Mark Publication Company. It's through that connection that the link exists.

Hello  Spintendo , Thank you for the feedback I have some further information to support the Request Edit.

• Ivor Mairants and Maurice Summerfield first met around 1957. He was Maurice Summerfield's guitar teacher and they soon became friends. Over the years their families became close. They often met at music trade fairs and shared in common a love of quality guitar playing and music in general. He was a regular contributor for many years to Maurice Summerfield's publication Classical Guitar magazine. Maurice Summerfield also published Ivor Mairants's book 'Perfect Pick Technique'.

On page 8 of his book Ivor Mairants acknowledges and pays tribute to Maurice Summerfield's contribution in completing 'My Fifty Fretting Years'. When Mairants received the Freedom of the City of London Maurice Summerfield and his wife were among the few guests invited by him to attend the ceremony. Ivor Mairants and Maurice Summerfield were friends for over 40 years.

• Maurice Summerfield always had a great love of the music of Django Reinhardt and contacted Charles Delaunay in 1980 to offer to republish his 1961 book on Django Reinhardt in an extended and updated edition. Delaunay was delighted to accept Summerfield's offer. After many months of correspondence, Maurice Summerfield met Charles in Paris in May 1981. They became good friends and the new edition of his book was published in August 1981. They remained in regular contact until Charles's death in May 1988.

Charles Delaunay acknowledged Maurice Summerfield's contribution to his book in his December 1981 letter.

• In 1978 Summerfield established the Ashley Mark Publishing Company as a division of Summerfield Musical Instruments partly to help promote the work of guitar personalities such as Ivor Mairants and Charles Delaunay.

Thank you for your clarification. No one is denying the close personal friendship or working relationship that existed between these three individuals. The claim requested here is to add information covering the specific publishing agreements which existed between Maraints and Delaunay and Ashley Mark Publications which enabled the publications of these biographies. But this article covers Maurice Summerfield the person, and not Ashley Mark Publications. Summerfield's involvement in those publications would be agreeable to add if they involved the usual levels of work which place mentions such as these in articles — such as an involvement in editing, for example. If Mr. Summerfield is listed as editor of these publications please clarify with references. Regards,  Spintendo  11:54, 26 August 2019 (UTC)

The Ashley Mark Publishing Company was a private partnership of Maurice Summerfield and Patricia Summerfield. Maurice Summerfield was the lead partner and carried out the roles of editor and publisher for the Ashley Mark Publishing Company.  Sales for the Ashley Mark Publishing Company were handled by Summerfield MI Ltd.

The authors of the two books concerned in this request have been dead for many years so they obviously cannot verify Maurice' Summerfield's contribution to the titles beyond the letters etc from them previously provided to support the new information.

Ivor Mairants acknowledges and pays tribute to Maurice Summerfield's contribution in completing 'My Fifty Fretting Years' and Charles Delaunay acknowledged Maurice Summerfield's contribution to his book in his December 1981 letter Authors of books often times acknowledge the assistance of many various people in the publishing of their books. This does not mean that every person who is acknowledged need have that acknowledgement mentioned in their Wikipedia article. The place for major contributions is on the cover of the book, its title page, or in a listing of the book in an online card catalog (such as WorldCat). These acknowledgements ought to be mentioned here in this article if they are found in those locations. In light of this, I've found one edition that lists "Summerfield"

• Mairants, Ivor (1980). My fifty fretting years: a personal history of the twentieth century guitar explosion. Summerfield Mark. ISBN 9780950622439.

There are however, 2 different editions listed:

• Mairants, Ivor (1980). 'My fifty fretting years': a personal history of the twentieth century guitar explosion. Ashley Mark Pub. Co. ISBN 9780950622439.

The only difference being locations, which are given as being either Tyne and Wear or Gateshead. I'm prepared to add the mention of the books that immediately mention Summerfield as publishing them. The extraneous information about their friendships, etc. doesn't need to be included. Please advise which other books need to be mentioned and I will do a search of their publication titles to confirm.
