• The lede is excessively detailed. I suggest dropping the ship's names.

• Clarify that poverty prevented him from joining the Army and lack of education the clergy.

• Done, although I wouldn't quite call it poverty!

• Having subsequently continued in Burford, This seems redundant

• Removed.

• Any reason given for the translation from Burford to Russell? No promotion involved and not a more prestigious ship, AFAIK.

• Nothing in particular. Would assume needs of the service, the death of a lieutenant opening a spot that needed to be filled or similar.
