In this article, it was said his born last name was Faktor, but on John Factor-- his brother-- it was said his bron surname was Factrowitz. Which one is true? --Samuel Curtis-- TALK 16:51, 30 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

There has to be an error with regard to either his birthdate or his mother's death date. Max Factor Sr.'s birth year is listed as 1875 and his mother's death year is listed as 1874. Both of these cannot possibly be correct as a deceased woman can not give birth to a child.  (Unsigned comment added by Pssbecca (talkcontribs) 15:38, 14 April 2010 (UTC))Reply

born 1872, death 1938 = he died at the age of 61??? ;o) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.3.202.194 (talk) 16:03, 5 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Birthdate / Age at death

edit

According to the lead, the subject died at the age of 65. But the section describing his death says he was 66, so there is still some clarification required. Alfrew (talk) 19:16, 12 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

This article from Cabinet Magazine is a bio of him, and may be useful: http://cabinetmagazine.org/issues/51/archibald.php Just wanted to leave it here. 63.251.123.2 (talk) 17:52, 7 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Name Change

edit

It's unlikely his name was changed to "Factor" by an immigration official since German ship records already list the family with the name Factor when departing Hamburg aboard the SS Moltke on 13 Feb 1904. Rkanyok (talk) 23:18, 1 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Luster is/was not Heir

edit

Regardless of what the article in the citation states, Andrew Luster was not the "heir" to the Max Factor fortune, not in a sense of being the sole or primary heir, which this wiki implies. Luster was not part of the direct line of descent through Max Factor, Jr., did not have any direct role in the family's businesses, and was already somewhat alienated from most of his extended family before he committed his crimes. Some media articles exaggerated his role. The actual wiki on Luster gets its right. He was living off of a $1 million trust fund, which was basically all he had from his family. A lot of money, but hardly the family fortune. Changing the description to "an heir" would be more accurate. 169.252.4.21 (talk) 11:18, 18 October 2016 (UTC)VainamoinenReply

Arrival in America

edit

Under the section "Life in America" the article states that he was already established in St. Louis in 1902, but in the previous sentence his year of arrival in the US (at Ellis Island) is given as 1904. Which is correct? Fultie771 (talk) 23:30, 20 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

Birth date (again)

edit

According to [1], his birth date is 1877 instead of 1872 (see photo). -- Speculos (talk) 16:20, 19 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

Requested move 10 September 2020

edit
The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

The result of the move request was: Consensus to not move. There does not appear to be consensus for move, as proposed, however as alternative counter-proposals have been mooted this closure is without prejudice to speedy renomination along such lines. – The WP:PRIMARYTOPIC is the company founder, Max Factor, who was never known as "Max Factor Sr." His son Francis "Frank" Factor did not change his name to "Max Factor Jr." until after his father's death. The article serving as putative primary topic — Max Factor — is basically a retelling of the founder's biographical details already specified in his article and should be moved to Max Factor (cosmetics) which is the standard qualifier for make-up companies. — Roman Spinner (talkcontribs) 08:55, 10 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

Academy Award

edit

There is no mention of Max Factor in any list with Oscar awards in 1929 (or any other year). According to academy page there was no Honorary award in 1929 Is there any solid source for that information ? Britanica is mentioning it in Max Factor bio, but he is not mentioned in any article about awards. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.253.45.7 (talk) 10:45, 9 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

Max Factor (person)Max Factor (businessman, born 1877) – In July 2021, this page's main title header had been unilaterally moved to the non-standard Max Factor (person), but the "Max Factor (businessman, born 1877)" option put forward by Necrothesp at Talk:Max Factor (person)#Requested move 10 September 2020 represents a familiar Wikipedia form. — Roman Spinner (talkcontribs) 16:48, 1 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
