Context
editDoes Hmong here refer to her ethnicity or the language she writes in? Is she a US citizen? Is Yang her married name? NickelShoe 20:17, 31 January 2006 (UTC)
Hmong definitely refers to her ethnic origin. Her writing ( or what I've read of it) is in english. There are some Hmong words in performances of the kind she does, but are likewise predominantly english. I don't know for sure but based on her age she is probably a US citizen. The articles hyphenated her name -Lee Yang. It is not traditional for a Hmong woman to take her husband's surname. Do to the subject matter of some of her works she may not follow all the traditional ways. Swankwc (talk) 19:53, 29 May 2014 (UTC)
Her enthnicity is Hmong. Her creative works are mostly english, but they are about Hmong culture, there are some Hmong words that are used therein. Her citizenship status I don't know. Hmong women don't traditionally take their husband's last name. An older Hmong man jokingly told me it was to avoid unnecessary paperwork. Swankwc (talk) 19:58, 29 May 2014 (UTC)
