Runway orientation

edit

As of August 2020, the runway orientation is certainly 16/34 - confirmed by the AIP, to which I added a link. If it was 15/33 at earlier times, this need not be a typo: these designations are based upon the magnetic orientation, and it is not uncommon for them to change as the magnetic variation changes over time. I well remember Antwerp Airport EBAW that always had a 12/30, then one day it became 11/29 though nothing had changed physically. If I may be allowed a personal rant, I think it is ridiculous today to still refer to magnetic data, it would be so much clearer and simpler and cheaper to refer to "true" headings, which never change. But ICAO is worse than any state administration - merrily living on in the 19th century... Jan olieslagers (talk) 20:08, 14 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
