Stopping on street, at malls and P/R lots mirrors low-cost airlines?
editJust how is that so? The only locations that low-cost airlines can land at or take off from are airports. I don't think I'd want SWA to land on Seventh Avenue in Manhattan. (When Sully landed in the drink on the Hudson River, that was an emergency landing and that river is busy enough with its own traffic.)
New York Penn to Pittsburgh via State College
editThis little piece of information really caught my eye, and was able to find some information on another public transportation board, using a bus stop sign as possible proof of the extension.
Unfortunately, Megabus' website neglects offering this information (at the time of this message), and the signage isn't that of Megabus, but of the City of New York (or MTA).
It's noticable that Buffalo isn't mentioned on a part of the sign, and I'm wondering if it's possibly an explanation of a possible typo.
New York to Toronto on Megabus service is well traveled, when it started as a two trip per day to the current five trip offering.
As I need to mention, it's speculation...should the comment of the extension to the cities of Pittsburgh and State College be stricken until something more credible is put forth?
What's happening lately with Megabus?...
editHey, does anyone know what's up now with Megabus? It looks like maybe they aren't letting people buy tickets way in advance for $1 anymore. It used to be you could book a year or more in advance, but I just tried to book a ticket for May and wasn't able to select a date any later than March 31st. I wrote to Megabus to see what was up, and just got back this as a reply:
"Thank you for your interest in Megabus.com. We don't have a the exact date and time when the new trips will be available on our website. All we tell our customers is just to keep checking back for any future updates.
Thank you and have a great day, Megabus.com"

Although it's only speculation, they could be having a hard time keeping up with the demands on a number of corridors. According to some trade publications, they are purchasing additional buses to add service to new cities, and to increase the frequencies on some of their heaviest patronized routes.
Don't forget that only one or two seats are available on each schedule at the one dollar fare and likely sell out quickly.
I've lucked out earlier with NeOn bus and their fares...but am finding it very difficult to get cheaper fares with many others following the same trips I likely take.
Just keep your eyes open, up to two months before the departure. I believe that's the best time to buy tickets at reduced fares.

It seems they reduced the number of $1 tickets, except during a promotional period. The number also depends on demand on a certain route, more cheap tickets attracts more people. Some overnight buses are done purely because there's a bus around or they need a bus in place for a schedule, might as well sell some tickets if the bus needs to be some place it can make more money. The accident reported on Dec. 10, 2009 in the main article is reported as a "slide off," but it appears the Megabus was overturned. There is a picture of the bus on its side on the WKBW website http://www.wkbw.com/home/related/78952657.html and also reported at http://www.newyorkinjurynews.com/2009/12/11/double-level-bus-flipped-over-injured-8-passengers-in-ny_200912111735.html
as a flip over.
Additionally, I personally heard of a highway slide off from a passenger who was involved last Monday, Dec. 7, on a bus headed for St. Louis from Chicago, with lesser injuries. Is someone monitoring accidents? I heard of another earlier accident a few weeks ago on the news, and there is no evidence of that in the article. Fleet - Van Hool Single Decker?
editSidebar says fleet includes Van Hool single-decker coaches - I've never seen or heard of this being the case. Can anyone provide evidence? 96.239.94.102 (talk) 18:51, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
I ride the midwest fleet, in the past they used the Van Hool single-decker buses, but sometime between 2008 and 2009 they phased out all of them in favor of the double-deckers. megabus.com about us section used to show pictures of the buses, but since the redesigned earlier in February 2010, they removed all of those pictures. The buses were most likely repainted with Coach USA decals and are now used elsewhere in the fleet or as back-up buses for Megabus during peak times. Pittsburgh hub.
editAlthough I agree that the Pittsburgh hub is not official news that can be referenced, there is some promising reading that may have lead the original writer into thinking Pittsburgh will become the hub that links the Midwest and Northeast networks together.

I'm certainly hoping this becomes reality. Although it's a long ride on a bus from Buffalo to Chicago, it'd be a whole lot better riding Megabus than trying to drive it.
Will be keeping my eyes open for further information.
"No frills" description
editGiven that Megabus offers wi-fi and electrical outlets, I'm wondering why the article describes it as a no-frills service. What frills are out there that it lacks? (I think BoltBus has leather seats, but I'd still say that Megabus is above-average in frilliness.) Thoughts? Kufat (talk) 21:37, 29 March 2011 (UTC)
- Agreed. Wi-fi alone is a big honking frill. It's at the best an outdated description. Either way it's incorrect; these aren't the Chinatown buses that are true "no frills" Many stop locations are pretty no-frills, but that's true of all buses. Overlinking and repeat linking. Inconsistencies?
editI'm looking at one of the tables in this article, and although I credit one of the authors for finally combining the multiple lists of routes into one comprehensive table, I notice that there are inconsistencies with the manner of linking the cities in the table.
WP:overlinking and WP:repeatlink are good documents that cover this.
Before I go into the table and start correcting these mistakes, is there a reason for the table to look like this?
It's a lot of formatting to do, and I don't want to get into doing it and find out it's either reverted back for some reason I didn't know, or someone precedes me on it.

editMegaBus now offers a service (operated by Concord Coach Lines) from Boston to the Portland Transportation Center in Portland, Maine. M31 service.
editAgain, I'm noticing errors in some of the information on the routes section.
M31 service is not shown on the website to go between Atlanta to as far as Washington, DC.
If there is a citation available that it is, in fact, an extension that goes to Atlanta, I would like to see it added, or I'll be reverting the posting in a few days.
Reminder: "insider" information is not acceptable when it's not verifiable. Please keep it in mind when updating this or any other articles.
California service
editI think the article is outdated. Recently, California service has resumed, with stops that include Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Jose, Reno and Las Vegas. NHRHS2010 the student pilot ✈ 22:37, 13 January 2013 (UTC)
Champaign service ended
editI just saw that Megabus isn't serving Champaign anymore. I'd take it out of the article, except I'm not sure how this impacts Chicago-Memphis service, and also I don't know how to edit the SVG. Can someone do that, and add whatever background?
Here's a link saying they were planning to cancel it; that's the only source I can find besides their website not letting me purchase tickets there. -- WEvanTh (talk) 06:54, 5 February 2015 (UTC)

editDoes anyone have any information about the changes coming soon? All I know is that the Chicago-NY route seems to be ending on January 9th, but I haven't seen any announcements about it. Will there be a different link between the eastern and midwest networks, or will they now be completely separate? Hubs aren’t quite
editIt may be a disservice to represent that megabus hubs at large facilities with good public services when in fact the stops are often several blocks away. Jonwchgo (talk) 11:53, 19 July 2019 (UTC)
