The result of the move request was: consensus not to move. Andrewa (talk) 09:00, 10 September 2010 (UTC)
Megalodon (bivalve) → Megalodon — This animal has priority over the shark. FunkMonk (talk) 18:48, 2 September 2010 (UTC)
- On what basis? Oppose per WP:COMMONNAME. PC78 (talk) 00:42, 3 September 2010 (UTC)
- On the basis that Megalodon is the genus name of the bivalve, whereas it is only the species name of C. Megalodon, so the bivalve has priority, and the shark should be moved to C. megalodon where it belongs. See also the move request on the shark page. And even if "commonname" should apply, the shark article would need to be moved to "Megalodon (shark)", so this one could occupy "Megalodon". FunkMonk (talk) 00:50, 3 September 2010 (UTC)
- (e/c) Discussion should not really be taking place over two pages. AFAIK, the shark is commonly known as "megalodon" and I should think it is far better known than the bivalve. I still think WP:COMMONNAME applies here, unless you can point me to a naming convention that states otherwise. (edited to add) Per WP:PRIMARYTOPIC as well, then. - Oppose WP:PRIMARYUSAGE is the shark. 76.66.194.106 (talk) 05:06, 3 September 2010 (UTC)
- Comment see Talk:Megalodon for the related complementary move request. 76.66.194.106 (talk) 05:25, 3 September 2010 (UTC)
- Oppose. Wikipedia works with the common name, and the shark is far more well-known as "megalodon" than this bivalve. Ucucha 10:40, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
- Oppose The shark is much more 'common', see [1] Megalodon have about 2,000-6,000 page hits, the whale [2] about 2-6 hits per day! The shark is about 1000 times more 'common', primarytopic and common name is in favor for the shark. --Stefan talk 05:52, 7 September 2010 (UTC)

Remove Genus Hyperlink?
editHi, i've seen that everytime you click on the hyperlink of the Genus "Megalodon" on the Automatic Taxobox is sending you the Wikipedia article about the Otodus megalodon, an gigantic lamniform shark that lived in Miocene and Early Pliocene epochs. I suggest that you remove the Hyperlink of the Genus on the taxobox, but on the Automatic Taxobox is impossible and you'll may need to replace the old Taxobox into a different, new one. If any you continue to ignore my request, then i'll may do it myself instead. I hope you understand, and thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by TheRealLTG (talk • contribs) 18:40, 1 January 2021 (UTC)
