You know what would have been nice? To have had a list of some actors who use the Meisner technique. That way, one can compare their output with actors who use (say) the Method, or whatever. Jalabi99 11:39, 27 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

The article needs a subsection that deals specifically with its criticism. --Hooperbloob 04:31, 12 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Simplicity

edit

As I read this article, I found it hard to continue reading, as it was poorly set out. There are about 3 topic headings, which was hard for navigation. The article would be much easier to read if it were divided into more topics, with an introduction summary of the technique, its history, its uses and so on. Just an idea...--Will James 08:57, 14 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

I would like to see more information on the pros and cons as well about the Meisner technique.

Substantial clean-up

edit

I have cleaned-up the article in the following ways: I've removed any names in the list of Meisner-trained actors that the source given did not support; I've removed anything that may be construed as an advertisment; I've added sources and used them in preference to the webpages previously used in what citations there are; I've toned down some of the more jargon-heavy passages; I've trimmed the text to try to make it clearer for a non-specialist. The article is still very low quality and requires substantial citations. The works listed in the sources section now may be of use for this. Any names added to the list of actors should be supported by a footnote and citation. DionysosProteus (talk) 04:14, 7 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

It has been a while since I've been to this article. It has changed substantially, and not for the better. WriterWithNoName (talk) 15:24, 17 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

I cleaned up some dead links and I'm working on citations and new article in my own sandbox. WriterWithNoName (talk) 20:38, 17 September 2015 (UTC)Reply
I worked on the opening section. I'd rather start from scratch. WriterWithNoName (talk) 00:33, 18 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Source Material

edit

I have cleaned up the reference list, as well as added new ones for reference material. I am not a student of Meisner, however, I have used some of his philosophy in my writing. It is my hope that someone who is Meisner-trained will come along and explain the technique in ways that I cannot WriterWithNoName (talk) 15:45, 18 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

The list of actors is confusing. While some have trained under Meisner himself, others are alumna of William Esper, among others. In time, the list should include clarification WriterWithNoName (talk) 15:45, 18 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Lists of Names

edit

Lists are necessary, however, lists of followers or students is often abused by those lacking notability in order to promote themselves or attach themselves to Wikipedia. I have vetted all of the names on this particular list, and cited those I was able to identify. I have left the remaining names as I found them. However, I will continue to monitor this page and vet any new additions, and remove those that cannot be verified. Please contact me on my personal page if you have any issues. WriterWithNoName (talk) 16:33, 20 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Such lists add little to an article, while substantially benefitting the person(s) being added. WriterWithNoName (talk) 16:36, 20 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
I propose that we do away with the list of names on this page, and point readers to the Meisner Wiki, or those who instruct others on the technique. I would much rather link actors with their acting coaches, than to splatter this page with random names. WriterWithNoName (talk) 22:43, 8 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
I have removed the redlinked names, as well as those already marked as having failed verification. I have marked the unsourced names as needing citations. DuncanHill (talk) 10:42, 9 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
I had been reluctant to do so as those names had been on this page when I came across it. I have only been monitoring new additions. WriterWithNoName (talk) 10:55, 9 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
I have removed all those marked as "citation needed" from June 2016. I also trimmed a bit of the advertorial nature of the article. DuncanHill (talk) 05:43, 22 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

MAJOR DISCREPENCIES AND FALSE INFORMATION

edit

Why are you choosing to post false information about other schools? Robert Carnegie is NOT DEAD. You are claiming false information. Playhouse West was a home for Sanford Meisner for MAMNY years. Playhouse West currently has the highest rate of working actors of any acting class in the country. The school not only has staff members who studied with Mr. Meisner, but writers, directors, and producers. the school has a film lab, writing classes and production classes. Sidney Pollack came and spoke at Playhouse West as a direct result of the authentic of the Meisner work being taught. Lastly, SEVERAL of the actors you have listed did NOT study with Mr Meisner nor did the study the Meisner technique. This page is LOADED with false information. — Preceding unsigned comment added by LASOURCES (talkcontribs) 05:25, 31 August 2018 (UTC) LASOURCES (talk) 05:28, 31 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
