Talk:Melih Abdulhayoğlu

POV, BLP, N, and NPF comments

edit

First, you can't write an article about a person and use it as a soap box for a company or product. See WP:COATRACK.

Second, articles on WP must be in WP:NPOV, so words like "best in class" and "instrumental" and "spearheaded" and such need to be tempered, neutralized, or have cited reliable sources using those exact words.

Finally, this rewrite in no way establishes Abdulhayoglu's notability. Allusions are made to writeups in ComputerWorld and PC World. If they are about Abdulhayoglu, and not about Comodo's products, they may very well address that concern; cite them, with references, and we'll remove the tag.

If we cannot find references about Abdulhayoglu --- not about his company --- I will submit this article for deletion.

Removed the banners

edit

This page may have had issues in the past, but I really think it looks fine now, so I took the banners off. Hope that's ok. Heath224 (talk) 00:02, 17 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Tone down the language

edit

I agree, the language is hyperbolic. I can help you tone it down. Have you checked back qith tbqf to see if she or he feels that your new references are noteworthy enough? Katharine908 (talk) 22:03, 8 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Neutralized the content

edit

I have edited the content of the article about Abdulhayoglu to an extent to satisfy Wikipedia guidelines and the different aspects that you stated. Please can you provide me with your further feedback on this? Thanks Lakshmi VB Narsimhan 04:53, 9 January 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lakshmin (talkcontribs)

Lack of evidence to support the accuracy of this article

edit

This article repeats several points and should be cleaned up to provide a more cohesive biography. Other points to question:

1. Abdulhayoglu formed the CAB Forum as mentioned twice in this article? Only a self-penned article backs this up. Where is the non-Comodo evidence to support this? Is the CAB Forum happy to publish that Abdulhayoglu was solely responsible for the EV Certificate type as his biog suggests - this would clarify these claims?

I have just added a quote from a March 15, 2009, article from eWeek, which I hope will clear up this issue.

2. "During his time there, Abdulhayoglu helped create new digital security technologies for large enterprises, computer manufacturers and governmental organizations worldwide." - sounds like he was employed. What technologies did he develop that are worthy of public interest and mention in this article?

I have asked the same question on the COMODO page, where the same statement is in place. Random name (talk) 22:06, 24 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

May I assume that the page is now satisfactorily neutral in tone? If anyone feels otherwise, would you please leave a note here or on my talk page?

If we have dispensed with POV, that will free me up to look for more and better references. I have added one, from eWeek, that I hope clears up the issue of Melih's founder status at CA/Browser Forum. (If you disagree that that is notable enough, please be kind enough to leave a note here or on my talk page.)

Random name's points about Melih's development are well taken. Please be assured that I am working on them. Like the wheels of justice, I grind slow but exceeding fine. Katharine908 (talk) 16:26, 26 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Actually the meeting was called by Phillip Hallam-Baker of VeriSign, Melih from Comodo and hosted by Comodo in New York. The origin of the meeting was a recent compromise of a GeoTrust issued certificate and two presentations made at the AntiPhishing Working group by VeriSign and Comodo proposing essentially similar solutions to the problem. -- 98.216.39.121 (talk) 15:05, 5 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
