If Melissa Newman was actually born in 1961, this would have made her only 8 years old when she appeared as Charlotte in the Undefeated in 1969 where she played the part of a teenage daughter to Rock Hudson. She is certainly older than 8 years old in that film..maybe a birth verification can be enacted? - That was a different actor, also named Melissa Newman, that appeared in The Undefeated, who is often mistaken to be Paul Newman's daughter due to her having the same name. See: HERE. --- Professor JR (talk) 10:40, 11 December 2015 (UTC)
Melissa Newman's age
editMs. Newman is listed in an Wickipedia article as being born in 1961. Yet, in the movie "The Undefeated" 1969 would make her 8 years old when it is very obvious she is a teen-ager, if not older. Her character, Charlotte, states her age as 16 in the movie. Someone has made a mistake. 68.12.1.59 (talk) 10:32, 20 December 2021 (UTC)
Melissa Newman's age
editAfter my post, I checked and came up with the same answer as a reply. Wikipedia did not show a list as usual, but rather sent me right to Paul Newman's daughter. Not even IMBD has anything on the woman in the Undefeated. 68.12.1.59 (talk) 10:44, 20 December 2021 (UTC)
Melissa Newman’s age
editMelissa Newman’s age she was not born in 1961 she was born in 1951 Wikipedia has the age wrong and the year she was born wrong I should know since my uncle wrote Newman‘s biography I guess no one ever seen the movie undefeated at Wikipedia otherwise they would’ve known she would’ve been eight years old at the time instead of 17 The age she was when the movie was released 72.222.204.196 (talk) 16:41, 30 December 2021 (UTC)
- I've removed the links to Undefeated, since this Melissa Newman did not appear in it. —C.Fred (talk) 16:50, 30 December 2021 (UTC)
TWO Melissa Newmans
editContrary to the comment above by "72.222.204.196" who claims his/her uncle wrote Newman's biography, a Recent Article was published that clears up the Birth Year of Paul Newman's daughter, Melissa Stewart Newman; 1961 (NOT 1951). Paul married Joanne Woodward after his divorce from Jackie was finalized; he and Joanne married on January 29, 1958 "...the power couple welcomed three daughters together: Elinor Teresa 'Nell' (1959), Melissa Stewart (1961), and Claire Olivia 'Clea' (1965)." --Terry Zeller, Hollywood Life, 7/23/2022 "Paul Newman's Wife: Everything To Know About His 2 Marriages Before Death" Therefore, their daughter Melissa Stewart was only 8 when The Undefeated was Released.
Therefore, I have created a NEW Page for the Older/Earlier Melissa Newman who, as a Teen, made her 1969 Film Debut in The Undefeated along with a Verifiable News Citation from that same year.
I've also removed the following appearances from Melissa Stewart's Filmography, adding them instead to the page for the Older/Earlier Melissa Newman:
- Bonanza (1971) "A Time to Die" as Lori who is engaged to be married; Paul Newman's daughter was only been 10 at the time.
- Gunsmoke (1972) "The Wedding" as Donna Clayton who is a 20-year old being courted by Sam Elliott's character, Cory Soames.
- Hawkins (1973) "Die, Darling, Die" as Karen Guilfoyle, in her early 20s.
- The New Perry Mason (1973) as Nita More, who is a woman in her 20's, and works as a secretary.
