editMelisso = (Greek) honey-bee and palynology = study of pollen, so melissopalynology should be something like the study of pollen associated with the honeybee. Not the study of "honey" as on the article page?? Gary
melissopalynology
editHello Gary,
The honeybee is known under its latin name of Apis mellifera I think mellifera means `bringer of honey`. From that i confer that mellos or something like that is Greek for honey. What happened to the double `L` and the quite strange coupling of the words by adding ´isso` i do not know. The aim of melissopalynology is to determine the species and amount of pollen in honey. It has nothing to do with other properties of honey. I think there is a lot more to tell about this topic. If i have time i want to add some things.
