The result of the move request was: Discussion moved to Talk:Mengu (Japanese facial armour)#Requested move (the section below this one.) Steel1943 (talk) 07:26, 25 April 2013 (UTC)
Mengu (Japanese facial armour) → Mengu – Move over redirect per WP:NAMINGCRITERIA: Concise. The simple title has redirected to the Japanese facial armour article for about a year, so it looks like this is uncontroversially the primary topic. Wilhelm Meis (☎ Diskuss | ✍ Beiträge) 00:31, 25 April 2013 (UTC)
- Object. I was looking up Mengu and found the existence of Mengü (a disambiguation page). It seems like the better option would be to first move Mengü to
MenguMengu (disambiguation) with the subject of Mengu (Japanese facial armour) being the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC, then proceeding with the originally requested move. Steel1943 (talk) 03:57, 25 April 2013 (UTC) - Object Mengu (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) used to redirect to Mengü originally, before it was changed, so the topic of "Mengu" should be discussed. -- 70.24.250.103 (talk) 04:28, 25 April 2013 (UTC)`
IP user, would you at least agree that Mengü should be moved to Mengu until a discussion happens?Steel1943 (talk) 04:36, 25 April 2013 (UTC)- I'm actually not understanding how Mengu (Japanese facial armour) cannot be considered the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC for "Mengu," given the fact that it is the only article in Wikipedia with the name "Mengu." The editor who changed the target of the redirect back in May 2012 seemed to have done it based on the fact that Mengu (Japanese facial armour) was the only article that was named "Mengu" spelled just like that. Steel1943 (talk) 04:51, 25 April 2013 (UTC)
- "Mengu" is an alternate rendering of "Mongke" [1][2], so I still think there should be a discussion on what should take that position. A simple google search does not show dominance of the Japanese version [3] -- 70.24.250.103 (talk) 05:32, 25 April 2013 (UTC)
- Mongke has a link in its "See also" section that links to Mengü, so your point has already been covered. With that being said, given how disambiguation pages are styled, I still am not understanding how this is a controversial request. (I apologize in advance if I'm missing something here.) Steel1943 (talk) 05:37, 25 April 2013 (UTC)
- It has been brought to my attention that the Japanese page itself was renamed from menpo by a blocked user, so the name of the Japanese article should be discussed to see if it even should be called mengu instead of menpo. As a move request only adds a week, I don't think it's overly burdensome to do it when redirects have been flipped about. -- 70.24.250.103 (talk) 05:46, 25 April 2013 (UTC)
- IP user, good catch on finding this diff. I do not think I would have ever even seen it, unless you had pointed it out. Steel1943 (talk) 06:02, 25 April 2013 (UTC)
- Actually, the nom pointed it out to me. -- 70.24.250.103 (talk) 06:13, 25 April 2013 (UTC)
- Just saw your talk page; I definitely wasn't aware of that conversation. Either way, glad the diff was found. Steel1943 (talk) 06:20, 25 April 2013 (UTC)

- Withdraw: While there is no evidence that any other article is competing for WP:PRIMARYTOPIC of Mengu (spelled that way), there may be WP:COMMONNAME concerns at the facial armour article. Withdrawing redirect reversal request to open COMMONNAME discussion at Talk:Mengu (Japanese facial armour). Thank you. Wilhelm Meis (☎ Diskuss | ✍ Beiträge) 06:23, 25 April 2013 (UTC)

The result of the move request was: Move to Mempo. Jafeluv (talk) 08:03, 10 May 2013 (UTC)
Mengu (Japanese facial armour) → ? – Initially, I requested move to Mengu over redirect per naming criteria (concise), and the point was raised that while Mengu (Japanese facial armour) is unnecessarily disambiguated, mengu may not even be the WP:COMMONNAME of this article's topic. Alternatives include Menpō, Menpo and Mempo (and maybe others). My initial searches turned up a preference for Mempo, but there is plenty of room for discussion. Please remember to clarify which name you support when posting WP:!VOTES. Relisted. BDD (talk) 23:13, 2 May 2013 (UTC) Wilhelm Meis (☎ Diskuss | ✍ Beiträge) 06:32, 25 April 2013 (UTC)
- Comment the best name seems to be men yoroi, but it isn't the most popular. -- 70.24.250.103 (talk) 06:57, 25 April 2013 (UTC)
- I'm not sure what you mean by the "best" name, but "menpo" and "mempo" seem to be much more common in English sources than "men yoroi". Book search for "mempo" / "menpo" / "men yoroi" yields 307 hits / 106 hits / 2 hits, respectively. Wilhelm Meis (☎ Diskuss | ✍ Beiträge) 07:07, 25 April 2013 (UTC)
- Comment Mempo/menpo is certainly the term I'm most familiar with, both in English or Japanese (apart from just men, which is ambiguous). I don't think I've ever come across men yoroi in English and the Japanese dictionary I checked just said "see mempo". Cckerberos (talk) 09:08, 2 May 2013 (UTC)
- Well then, it seems that "mempo" is the title to be used -- 65.94.76.126 (talk) 05:13, 3 May 2013 (UTC)

Proposed title: Mempo
edit- Support per discussion above, mempo seems to be the WP:COMMONNAME. NB: I nominated the move, but without a proposed title. Wilhelm Meis (☎ Diskuss | ✍ Beiträge) 15:23, 3 May 2013 (UTC)
