Notability/Tourism
editThis seems to be only touristic information and as such should be moved to WikiTravel as per WP:AFDP. Pascal.Tesson 23:54, 25 June 2006 (UTC)
- It's not really tourist information, because Nauru is only a tourist destination for the terminally curious. 194.97.161.50 07:31, 30 September 2006 (UTC)
Value of Menen Hotel section
editI am not an expert on WP rules, but if the question is does this article contain some encyclopedic value rather than travel value, then I would be inclined to say yes. I was using WP to look at the history of the Island of Nauru and the present day economy, including tourism, and the article certainly helped me in that respect, as it is the islands only hotel. So if you removed it then I would have learnt less on the Nauru economy. Of course, maybe it should be in the Nauru section. Is it poorly writen and a bit of an advertisement, yes, but it still imparts usful information. Anyway, thats my two bobs worth. JL
- I agree, if you look at the actual Nauru article, this is the only tourist hotel (other than a hostel) on the island nation --which is notbale because the island-country is economically desparate. When you hear a South Pacific Island is in financial straits you think about tourism --yet due to the ecological damage and lack of infrastructure this island apparently only supports one hotel, this one. There's a reason this country was fascinating enough to get people turn it into a featuer article, and this is one aspect of it. --Bobak 19:19, 8 July 2006 (UTC)
- Count me in as in agreement also. This is the only hotel in an entire country! As a reference work Wikipedia should include this article.
- I also came in through the Nauru article which is fascinating and think that there should be an entry here - especially given the fact the hotel seems to have no site of it's own. But certain information seems too impermanent and not particularly encyclopedic i.e. "The hotel package includes a colourful sketch map of Nauru."--Artificialard 18:16, 16 September 2006 (UTC)
- It seems an accurate enough description; some day perhaps we'll have an article on local maps, like those from hotels and chambers of commerce. Given how brief the article is, I think any detail which helps to convey what this place is like is useful, as long as it's accurate and meets NPOV and OR guidelines. Perhaps "colourful" is an opinion, but I'm not going to bother changing it to "color". I am going to remove the tag, though, since we seem to have consensed that having the article in wikipedia is reasonable. Akb4 14:01, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
