some research notes
editAfter some digging here and there, I had found few links which might give a clue on what was this.
All materials are in Russian!
- [1] claims that USSR's AF 445th bombers regiment (which was acting part of 326th bomber division since Nov'1944) had been based on Mengon airfield, near lake Bolon' which actually matches with map. It says also that 445th regiment had been decomissioned in 1946.
- This [2] and this [3] also states that 326th bomber division had been on based along Russian Far East same time.
- [4] is copy'paste from Russian Federation government act on passing not-finished "object 7604" (later clarified in text as airfield in Mengon) into local government property in May'1999.
- Now, for final twist, manual search on Google Earth (i.e. NOT on Google Maps, but with help of special Google Earth app) had bring interesting photo from Panoramio which seems properly positioned straight on airfield on Google Earth, and claims it has been airfield for Buran (renovated but unfinished), tho there are no single cite of source. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Silpol (talk • contribs) 14:33, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
— Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.83.239.101 (talk) 14:21, 7 July 2012 (UTC)
