Please clarify
editI don't understand (and, at the moment, think that there is possibly a flaw in the article) from where the deposited mercury comes from, resp. whereto the dissolved mercury goes. Look at the animated scheme and note that the reservoir drops at the ends of the capillary tube doesn't grow or shrink, but keep constant.
