Name of Town/Article

edit

Why is this page titled Mersa Matruh when every reference in the article calls the town "Marsa Matrouh"?Scartboy (talk) 14:52, 11 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

  • The article should be consistent with the current title. Alternative spellings should be mentioned in the lead, if they are common. If the current title is not the most commonly used name, then the article should be moved. I checked Google Books to try to get some idea of the common English name. Here are the searches and the results:
Based on these results, the current title would appear to be the most commonly used name. --Robert.Allen (talk) 20:34, 26 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

Climate

edit

The average monthly temperatures were extremely bizarre for Mersa Matruh, so I checked the source and found very different values and they looked quite impossible, so I searched for another source after comparing it with two others ([1], [2]) to confirm its sensibility. Accordingly, that was my edit. --Mahmudmasri (talk) 19:17, 28 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Soviet naval facility

edit

Can anyone add any information on the naval facility (or whatever the correct term is) that the Soviets had at Mersa Matruh during the Cold War? All I know is that they came in during Nasser's regime and left in 1977.92.81.224.216 (talk)

Another main beach

edit

The most famous, the most beautiful is Cleopatra Beach with an unbelievably fine, very white sand. It should be added. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.104.90.126 (talk) 03:44, 26 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
