The Petroglyph section refers to the wrong location and should be removed

edit

There are at least two Mesa Prietas in New Mexico and the petroglyph section is not about this one

On viewing the sources for the Petroglyph section on this page, it seems the sources refer to a location near Velarde, New Mexico, in Rio Arriba County, in a completely different part of the state from the one located in Sandoval County. The location description is incorrect for the same reason. The USGS map is the only correct source on this page. For this reason the petroglyph section should be removed and location and geological information should be brought into alignment with the USGS source.

The two Mesas Prieta are circled in this map screenshot

Perhaps a different article could be written about the Archaeological Conservancy-managed petroglyph site near Velarde? Klarno (talk) 16:15, 15 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
