Discrepancies

edit

In creating this article, I discovered numerous discrepancies scattered throughout the subject's life, ranging from their given birth name to their common name, relatives ("Uncle Waldo"), dates and locations, etc. I have done the best I could with the sources found online and in print, and presented all the claims with inline citations for the reader to decide. From my own personal research, it is safe to say that Wilkins herself tended to change the details of her story with each interview she gave. Thus the variants in miles traveled, Wyeth account, farmer proposal, et al. One particular detail that I struggled with was her given name: Annie Mabel Libby. Obviously "Wilkins" was her married named, although varying sources cannot agree on just how many times she was married and to whom. One photo actually displays: "Annie Mable Libby Stuart Wilkins". However, "Mesannie" seems to be a combination of "Miss" and "Annie", as can be seen in a quotation by a resident of Minot who knew her: "Mes Annie". Over time, I believe, Wilkins merely presented herself as "Mesannie" (Miss Annie); her accent being quite thick. As can be heard in the "You Bet Your Life" segment. If future editors can find better, more definitive sources to clear up any discrepancies within the articles, please do so. Thank you. Maineartists (talk) 01:18, 22 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
