Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to one external link on Metamorphic code. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:

"brute force"

edit

The article says "… like inserting NOP instructions (brute force) …". This doesn't seem like brute force to me. Brute force is trying all potential solutions (or a large number of potential solutions) to a problem. In this case, simply picking any combination of random locations, inserting NOP instructions there, and adjusting relative offsets will produce the desired result. Knowing that nearly any random solution is acceptable, I would not call this "brute force", but maybe it is a term commonly used in that way by the community?

Don't be afraid of changing the phrasing into something more suitable. Or maybe just remove the parenthesis and its content (brute force). Maybe the original author thought it was kindof brutish to just pave the code over with NOPs? srsly idk · · · Omnissiahs hierophant (talk) 12:33, 29 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
