Talk:Metropolis (novel)

Latest comment: 1 year ago by Scottandrewhutchins in topic Who was the translator of the English translation?

Set in 2026, or in no particular time?

edit

In Metropolis (1927 film), I read this:

A note in Harbou's novel says that the story does not take place at any particular place or time, in the past or the future.

In this article, I read this:

The story is set in 2026...

Neither has any citation, and both cannot be correct. Anyone have a copy to confirm which is actually in the original novel? - IMSoP (talk) 20:33, 22 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Yes. In the book, the opening note by the author starts "This book is not of today or of the future." WordwizardW (talk) 05:16, 4 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Who was the translator of the English translation?

edit

Who was the translator of the English translation? I don't see it in the article. WordwizardW (talk) 05:18, 4 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

I have the 1988 edition illustrated by Michael William Kaluta and published by Donning/Starblaze. It acknowledges that it is a translation in the Library of Congress data, but I couldn't find a translator credit. It's likely it was done anonymously. --Scottandrewhutchins (talk) 22:25, 28 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
