Requested move
edit- The following discussion is an archived discussion of the proposal. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the proposal was move to Mexican League (baseball). JPG-GR (talk) 04:37, 11 October 2008 (UTC)
This should be moved to Mexican League with a note at the top to the page Mexican League (disambiguation). I tried to get this through requested moves before but even though there was no opposition it was said to be possibly controversial. If anyone has any objections please state so we can get this finalised.—Borgardetalk 15:52, 25 September 2008 (UTC)

- Mexican League is not the most common unambiguous name for this tournament - I think first of the Primera División de México, and a quick search on Google shows this is a common use. Knepflerle (talk) 09:17, 26 September 2008 (UTC)
- That is soccer, we are talking about baseball here. Minor league baseball (the organisation) refers to this as Mexican League and not Mexican Baseball League. The link you have provided states "first division" and not league at all. —Borgardetalk 14:42, 26 September 2008 (UTC)
- Also, a google search shows the majority of the first page as baseball not soccer. —Borgardetalk 14:43, 26 September 2008 (UTC)
- I am perfectly aware that Primera División de México is a football competition and what the literal meaning of its official title is; that was my point. The fact is that "Mexican League" is often used to refer to the PDdM, and a fair proportion of the Google search results are for this football competition. A slight majority may be for the baseball competition, but enough results (even on the first page) are for the football competition that we cannot say this is a truly unambiguous name. Mexican League should be a disambiguation page between the football and baseball leagues (and perhaps other sports). If this page is moved at all it needs an unambiguous title, Mexican League (baseball) or Liga Mexicana (baseball) or some such. Knepflerle (talk) 17:39, 26 September 2008 (UTC)
- OK, I see what you mean. I agree, Mexican League should disambiguate. I request that this page then be named Mexican League (baseball). —Borgardetalk 10:32, 28 September 2008 (UTC)
- That'd be fine with me! Knepflerle (talk) 15:04, 30 September 2008 (UTC)
- So what happens now? —Borgardetalk 17:27, 2 October 2008 (UTC)

Article expansion
editThis article could use some work. How many games does each team play in a season? Do they use the Designated Hitter rule? How are extra innings handled? Who is the league's commissioner? Schoop (talk) 17:14, 10 March 2009 (UTC)
- Those are great questions! I'll get on top of them to have them answered in order to include that info in the article. Dabackgammonator (talk) 21:46, 30 March 2009 (UTC)
- The historic significance of the Mexican League should be discussed. It offered black American baseball players the chance to play with and against white American baseball players, proving they could thrive. With all the attention paid to the Negro Leagues, which played only irregularly and were themselves segregated, it's amazing how little attention is paid to the Mexican League; if I hadn't done a book report on Roy Campanella when I was a little kid, I don't think I'd ever have known the central role the Mexican League played in desegregation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 205.175.220.10 (talk) 17:57, 26 March 2019 (UTC)
Updates to image map
editThe File:LMB Map.png has red spots for the city of Chihuahua, Chihuahua (former home of the Dorados de Chihuahua) and Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas (former home of the Tecolotes de Nuevo Laredo). But those two teams are no longer in the LMB as of 2011.[1][2] The template {{LMB Labelled Map}} has already been updated to remove the two extra teams. Perhaps it is also time to update the image file. 67.86.64.52 (talk) 03:24, 2 July 2011 (UTC)

Move
editI was bold and moved the article from Mexican League (baseball) to Mexican League. The latter already redirected to the article, so the disambiguator was unnecessary. This is clearly the primary use of the term. Further, reviewing the pages edit histories revealed a confusing mess that was the result of several years of back and forth. This seemed the simplest and most effective solution.Cúchullain t/c 17:10, 17 April 2012 (UTC)
Move discussion in progress
editThere is a move discussion in progress on Talk:Vaqueros Unión Laguna which affects this page. Please participate on that page and not in this talk page section. Thank you. —RMCD bot 19:31, 3 February 2018 (UTC)
Rewrite tag
editI added a rewrite tag to the article as much of it seems to have been written by editors whose first language is not English (understandably). Grammar and phrasing could use a major overhaul in several places to bring it up to Wikipedia standards. Metz77 (talk) 13:59, 21 November 2019 (UTC)
