Evaluation
editThis article is extremely short, only three paragraphs long. The information is somewhat divided into paragraphs but they are not well organized. Wildlife is discussed two separate times in the article. The article not very in-depth and lacks enough information about the topic. The information present in the article is relevant to the topic. There is little evidence to support the facts provided. The article has one source, which is from the Belize National Parks webpage. The one source references multiple sentences. Many facts, such as the age of the reef, wildlife, number of coral patches, and characteristics of the reef are not cited. The unreferenced facts are not common knowledge and need to be cited. Citing the facts, and adding more information about the reef and its inhabitants could improve the article. Separating the article into sections, and adding pictures would improve the article. The article lacks an introduction. There are no key points to the article, just a few facts listed. There are no headings or subheadings with this article. The lack of headings makes the article confusing to understand. The article does not have enough information about the natural history of the reef, the wildlife on the reef, and the ecotourism importance of the reef. Some of the information is outdated or incorrect. Images would be helpful to visualize the reef, and the wildlife described to live on the reef. There is no bias in the writing; the facts are neutral toned. The only source is a government page about the reef, which is a reliable source. The source is from 2011 and it may need to be updated. Edits
editI changed the first sentence from part of the "Belizean Barrier Reef" to "Belize Barrier Reef". I also changed the link from linking to the country of Belize and to the barrier reef to linking to just the Belize Barrier Reef Page. Mlewis28 (talk) 19:53, 28 November 2018 (UTC)
Added citation after sentence describing some natural history of the reef Mlewis28 (talk) 19:58, 28 November 2018 (UTC)
Changed link for Montastraea annularis so it goes to the genus Montastraea instead of Orbicella annularis. Mlewis28 (talk) 20:04, 28 November 2018 (UTC)
Added parentheses around staghorn coral scientific name to be consistent with the rest of the article. Mlewis28 (talk) 20:43, 28 November 2018 (UTC)
Created a section titled "Wildlife" Mlewis28 (talk) 01:22, 29 November 2018 (UTC)
Changed the link for staghorn coral to the scientific name for staghorn coral for consistency. Also added more information about the coral species. Mlewis28 (talk) 01:22, 29 November 2018 (UTC)
Added more information about the wildlife on the reef. Mlewis28 (talk) 02:57, 29 November 2018 (UTC)
Added a picture of a green moray eel Mlewis28 (talk) 03:08, 29 November 2018 (UTC)
Relocated the sentence about ecotourism to the top paragraph, and reworded it. Added a citation to an update on the status of the reef as a marine reserve. Reworded the first sentence of the first paragraph under the "Wildlife" section. Also added that the Belize Barrier Reef is located in the Caribbean Sea. Mlewis28 (talk) 04:34, 29 November 2018 (UTC)
