edit@WilliamJE: I get WP:categorization but it seems disingenuous to exclude a state senator from (essentially) a list of state senators. If one simply was looking at the wider category they might not think to look within the subcategories. Maybe it shouldn't be changed back, but it does seem odd. 331dot (talk) 00:40, 5 July 2015 (UTC)
- Examples of People both not in a category and subcategory include sportspeople and mayors of a place. Look at Sportspeople from Portland or Bangor, Maine, or if you want a more unbiased selection because I created and filled those categories, look at Sportspeople and People from Boston, Massachusetts. Mayors are people from a place and locally elected official but consensus is they don't go in both 'People from Foo' and 'Mayors of Foo'. Mayor of is the higher categorization. A Majority or Minor Leader is a higher categorization of State Senator. Out of the Majority and Minority Leaders of Maine, most were in just one category....William 00:50, 5 July 2015 (UTC)
- I'm not really saying that you are wrong; it just seems odd in this circumstance, if people treat the category as a list. I do appreciate your explanation. 331dot (talk) 00:54, 5 July 2015 (UTC)
