editIf Sir Michael's performance at the BBC is on a par with his performance as Chief Executive of Birmingham City Council and as effective as his review of Local Government reform it will not be too long before we say goodbye to the BBC as we know it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.107.163.200 (talk) 14:58, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
Religion and core beliefs
editWhat is Sir Michael Lyons' religion? Does anyone know if he is affiliated to any secret societies such as the Freemasons?--Wool Bridge (talk) 09:37, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
Requested move

No consensus to move. Vegaswikian (talk) 05:12, 5 October 2011 (UTC)
Michael Lyons (BBC chairman) → Michael Lyons (former BBC chairman) – Current page title is misleading. Chris Patten is current BBC chairman Eugenejordan (talk) 14:05, 28 September 2011 (UTC)
- Oppose. We do not make distinctions between current and former holders of offices in article titles. The article disambiguator in parentheses is only meant to disambiguate this Michael Lyons from other Michael Lyons, which it does perfectly well. -- Necrothesp (talk) 15:16, 28 September 2011 (UTC)
- Oppose -- BBC chairamn is a disambiguator, not a "title". We might shorten it to Michael Lyons (BBC), but that would not really be useful. Peterkingiron (talk) 15:19, 28 September 2011 (UTC)
- Oppose - disambiguators should not be so precise. I would support a move to Michael Lyons (media executive) or something similar. – ukexpat (talk) 17:21, 28 September 2011 (UTC)
- Oppose We wouldn't use Joe Bloggs (former cricketer) instead of Joe Bloggs (cricketer), or any other job-title. Lugnuts (talk) 13:44, 29 September 2011 (UTC)

Edits
editHi @Smarchez, I had to undo your edits because there are a number of issues. Also please see my responses here: User_talk:Alyo#Question_from_Smarchez_(14:48,_15_July_2024). Alyo (chat·edits) 16:03, 15 July 2024 (UTC)
- Hi Alyo. I'm sorry to hear that. The edits (as I attempted to do) were requested by Michael Lyons (I'm his PA). Could you tell me what I did wrong? How can we resolve this and change it to the current information as I tried to do? Many thanks, Sally Smarchez (talk) 08:13, 16 July 2024 (UTC)
- Since you're editing on his behalf, I'll ask you to list the changes you'd like to make here on the talk page, and not edit the page directly. What are the inaccuracies you saw? Alyo (chat·edits) 13:53, 16 July 2024 (UTC)
- Hi again. These are the things that need correcting:
- His current roles are non-executive chair of the English Cities Fund (https://englishcitiesfund.co.uk/) and chair of SQW Group Board (https://www.sqw.co.uk/) i.e. the first paragraph is out of date.
- This is out of date 'Lyons is a governor of the Royal Shakespeare Company as well as a non-executive director on the boards of Mouchel,[needs update] Wragge & Co Solicitors'
- The last paragraph under 'BBC Chairman' seems a bit peevish but I suppose we have to live with that?
- Some of the references appear to be unavailable.
- Many thanks, Sally Smarchez (talk) 09:56, 23 July 2024 (UTC)
- Hi @Smarchez, I've made some edits per your suggestions. Feel free to make more suggestions. If you have any source/citation updates, feel free to leave those here too and I'll update as I have time/if it aligns with our rules etc. Alyo (chat·edits) 16:30, 23 July 2024 (UTC)
