Michael Matheson (politician) → Michael Matheson – Only Wikipedia article with the title "Michael Matheson" as opposed to Mike Matheson. Sahaib (talk) 17:33, 9 February 2024 (UTC) Sahaib (talk) This is a contested technical request (permalink). Sahaib (talk) 11:36, 11 February 2024 (UTC)
- Contesting this as controversial. Mike Matheson is still called Michael, so he's not automatically cut out of the equation, just because that isn't his exact article title. Cheers — Amakuru (talk) 22:51, 9 February 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose, there are definitely sources that refer to the hockey player as Michael Matheson. Insufficient disambiguation. 162 etc. (talk) 17:27, 10 February 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose per the two above; 162 etc. (funny mentioning/writing this on the back of this) and Amakuru. My reason? Quoting from Dicklyon in my first-ever RM;
blatant primarytopic takeover attempt. Disambiguating (as now) is best.

- The hockey player's actual name is also "Michael". Crouch, Swale (talk) 17:06, 11 February 2024 (UTC)
- Support if paired with Michael Matheson → deleted to make room for move. There are only two entries listed upon the Michael Matheson disambiguation page, thus one entry can easily point to the other via hatnote, obviating the need for the dab page and the parenthetical qualifier "(politician)". The dab page does currently have a third entry, but it is only a WP:DABMENTION of a minor film character name that serves no purpose. —Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 19:03, 11 February 2024 (UTC)
