The result of the move request was: moved to Michael McDonald (mixed martial artist). Jenks24 (talk) 12:49, 11 September 2014 (UTC)
Michael McDonald (fighter) → ? – (See below.) Anthony Appleyard (talk) 05:42, 3 September 2014 (UTC)
- I obeyed this "revert an undiscussed move" request: Anthony Appleyard (talk) 05:42, 3 September 2014 (UTC)
- Michael McDonald (mixed martial artist) → Michael McDonald (fighter) – Someone changed Michael McDonald the MMA page's page for no reason, and "(fighter)" is the official designation for MMA fighters on wikipedia, not "(mixed martial artist)", although I do think "Michael McDonald (mixed martial artist)" should remain as a redirect to "Michael McDonald (fighter)". – LiberatorLX (talk) 02:00, 3 September 2014 (UTC)
- Comment after this is returned, a full requested move needs to be opened, as there are multiple people by this name who can be desribed in common English as "fighter". -- 65.94.169.222 (talk) 04:03, 3 September 2014 (UTC)
- Comment We also have Michael McDonald (kickboxer) and I think that given that Michael McDonald (mixed martial artist) is the correct choice. Not so sure that fighter is the best designation anyway - we also have boxer - but that is another fight.Peter Rehse (talk) 18:26, 3 September 2014 (UTC)
- Comment The same can be said for Anderson Silva, as there is Anderson "Braddock" Silva as well. "Fighter" is the designation for MMA fighters on wikipedia, not "mixed martial artist", that designation is way too long and we can tell that the other Michael McDonald is a kickboxer from his designation as "kickboxer". Changing the MMA fighter Michael McDonald's designation to "mixed martial artist" will just complicate everything. That's why I'm opposed, and if we do it for one guy, then it must be done for the others. LiberatorLX (talk) 05:51, 4 September 2014 (UTC)
- What other pages need correction besides Silva? We might as well get around to correcting those as well -- 65.94.169.222 (talk) 06:38, 4 September 2014 (UTC)
- That only works if there are no other fighters. This is not the case here. Ambiguously disambiguating article names leads to confusion as to the topic of the article. It will not complicate matters, it will fix confusion inherent in ambiguous disambiguation. Another option is Michael McDonald (MMA fighter) . Either way, it should not stay as "fighter" because the kickboxer is also a fighter, and his infobox even lists where he fights out of, not where he kickboxes out of. In the English language "fighter" does not mean MMA fighter, it means any sort of fighter (any martial art, boxing, etc; warfighter, terrorist fighters, etc) -- 65.94.169.222 (talk) 06:22, 4 September 2014 (UTC)

- Rename to Michael McDonald (mixed martial artist) (preferably) or Michael McDonald (MMA fighter) (alternately), because there are multiple fighters named "Michael McDonald". Kickboxers are frequently called fighters out in the real world (as are boxers, soldiers, etc). -- 65.94.169.222 (talk) 06:22, 4 September 2014 (UTC)
- The relevant list article for male MMA fighters is called List of male mixed martial artists, not fighters -- 65.94.169.222 (talk) 12:28, 6 September 2014 (UTC)
