Is this game really considered a rivalry? Neither school wanted the other for a protected rivalry in Big Ten scheduling. These schools may not like each other since they’re both very good conference opponents but there’s no real hate between the teams. It also seems there isn’t a lot of animosity between the fanbases. Calling this matchup a rivalry undermines what a true rivalry is: pure hatred for the other team/school/fanbase regardless of how good they are. 2601:40F:4480:DC40:59AE:CB1B:FCD2:AED6 (talk) 05:58, 22 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
I think Penn State considers it a rivalry, their campus bars have drinks named things like "Michiganstillstucksandjimharbaughhasntwonabigtenchampionship" (notably, he had won two championships when I had the drink, and they misspelled sucks). That said I don't think Michigan knows that Penn State even exists, there's no annual trophy for the game, it isn't an annual game other than them formerly being in the same division in the Big Ten. I think the page should be removed since it's not more a rivalry than any other former Big Ten East matchup. Johnathonnow (talk) 20:13, 30 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
