Which microarchitectures use micro-operations?
editI'd like to see this article document the history of the use of micro-operations. For example, which microarchitectures in the List of Intel CPU microarchitectures incorporate(d) micro-operations? – Wdfarmer (talk) 06:59, 23 September 2009 (UTC)
- All of them do, but not in exactly the same way. All of them use traditional fixed microcode to various degrees, while the later ones (P6 and onwards) also use dynamically created sequences of microinstructions (as described in the article). 83.255.38.101 (talk) 14:50, 14 January 2010 (UTC)
- IBM's z/Architecture (non-x86) z196 and z13 microprocessors also break down CISC instructions into micro-operations. Guy Harris (talk) 20:27, 23 April 2016 (UTC)

We should add a section on CISC to Micro-op decoding as in x86

- Micro-operations are already mentioned in the second paragraph of Complex instruction set computer#Superscalar, with a link back to the micro-operations page; is more needed there? Guy Harris (talk) 03:15, 4 May 2018 (UTC)
