codenames and ship slogans

edit

Windows client 3.0 was "bullet." Schedule+ was "bandit." Internal resistance to moving off Xenix-based Winmail and Wzmail was impressive, including Raymond Chen (yes, that Raymond Chen) writing MAPI-drivers for Wzmail for years, and the infamous "Bullet Blows Donkeys. I Have Proof!" flyer which got scattered all over Building 16 one night. Mail 3.2a's ship slogan (unofficial) was "And this time, it works!" Mail 3.5's was "Desperately clinging to market share until Exchange can get its ship together." They tried to get us to come up with a "rallying cry" for 3.0, and "It's Better Than Being Killed with a Forklift" was winning the election until they cancelled it and the division head just dictated one to us. Exchange 4.0's ship slogan was "Quality is Job 1.1." It was an impressively cynical group. XD Solarbird (talk) 09:07, 28 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Oh, oh, I forgot - people forced onto Exchange 4.0 used to say, "Hi, I'd like to Exchange this for an email system that works, please." Solarbird (talk) 20:59, 28 January 2015 (UTC)Reply
