When founded?
editWhen was METO founded?
This article claims it was founded in 2017, but I cannot find documentation of that. Worse, I found an interview with Sharon Dolev 2017-12-26, which mentions the Israeli Disarmament Movement as part of the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN):
Yali (Yael) Marom (25 December 2017). "'We will establish a nuclear-free zone in the Middle East'". +972 Magazine. Wikidata Q125790535.
ICAN won the Nobel Peace Prize earlier that year, but this article does NOT mention METO
I would naively think that if METO had been founded before the end of 2017, it would have been mentioned in that article.

- An interview with Dolev published 2017-12-25 does NOT mention METO:
- Yali (Yael) Marom (25 December 2017). "'We will establish a nuclear-free zone in the Middle East'". +972 Magazine. Wikidata Q125790535.
- They may have been made the decisions to create such an organization in 2017, but I've so far been unable to find documentation supporting such a claim.

- I just found a reference claiming it was founded in 2014:
- Sharon Dolev; Leonardo Bandarra (22 June 2022). "Towards an Achievable WMDFZ Treaty for the Middle East: Insights from Civil Society". Journal for Peace and Nuclear Disarmament. 5 (1). doi:10.1080/25751654.2022.2092369. ISSN 2575-1654. Wikidata Q125861886.
- However, that article also says, "Between 2019 and 2021, the [civil society group pushing for a WMD free Middle East treaty] was institutionalised under the name of the Middle East Treaty Organization (METO)".
- I shall ask METO. DavidMCEddy (talk) 21:23, 9 May 2024 (UTC)
