Old and In the Way
editSeems like Old and in the Way recorded "Moonlight Midnight" back in 1973. There's seems to be an obvious Jerry connection, but does anyone have a verifiable connection that could be added to this album? --J Clear (talk) 02:56, 7 April 2012 (UTC)
- Yes, there's a Jerry Garcia, and Peter Rowan, connection. Garcia co-founded both bands -- Old and in the Way, and the New Riders of the Purple Sage. See the NRPS article for more information about that. Rowan played guitar in Old and in the Way. He wrote the song "Midnight Moonlight", and he also wrote two of NRPS's most popular songs -- "Panama Red" and "Lonesome L.A. Cowboy". Those are the facts that I know, but I don't have any references for exactly how NRPS started playing the three songs that Rowan wrote, and I'm not sure what could be said about any of this in the article. It's interesting though, and I'm certainly open to further discussion. — Mudwater (Talk) 12:14, 7 April 2012 (UTC)
