Philippine Revolution

edit

The following sentence that appears in the Philippine Revolution section needs to be cleaned up:

  • After the Spanish-American War broke out in 1898, and Admiral George Dewey requested the aid of Aguinaldo and his revolutionaries to help in the Philippine Campaign, and soon the revolution had started all over again.

I'd do it myself, but I'm not sure what the statement is trying to say. We also need a source documenting Dewey's request for aid from Aguinaldo and his revolutionaries. If someone more knowledgeable in this area can make some improvements on this, that would be great. Kabesang Tales (talk) 07:31, 10 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Death date, etc.

edit

This edit changing the death date in the infobox from October 13, 1911 to September 27, 1907 caught my eye. Checking, I quickly found that this source supports the October 13 date. I know that source has been disputed in other articles, so I looked further and found that the October 13, 1911 date is also supported by this official biography. I changed the asserted date back to the October 13, 1911 at that point and other points in the article, citing the official biography in support. The September 27, 1907 death apparently comes from from confusion of Malvar with Macario Sakay who, according to the WP article about him, was hanged on September 27, 1907.

The incorrect death date also appeared in the "Philippine-American War" section of the article. Since the 1911 death date death was some years after the war, I added a new section header for "Later life and death". I corrected the unsupported paragraph where it appeared there, citing the same source, adding a {{cn}} following an assertion there not supported by that source.

Observing MOS:DATED, I also replaced "currently" in the lead paragraph with As of 2022.
