Mike who?
editWorth mentioning, at one point during the "Lewinsky scandal", he appeared with a paper bag on his head as "the Unknown Briefer"? Walter Cronkite 06:42, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
Clinton Administration??!!
editHas no one else noticed that his years working as Press Secretary under the Clinton administration are completely omitted here? While his career has indeed spanned before and after, he is certainly most notable for having served in this capacity. A section needs to be added outlining the highlights of his tenure under Clinton and, should be the primary focus of this article! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.93.79.233 (talk) 09:44, 23 October 2009 (UTC)
Clinton-era Tenure and Press Briefings
editTo answer a question posed elsewhere here: McCurry's tendency to be rude and abrupt with reporters is much of the story of those years. He saw the Press Secretary as a "company man" first, last and always.
When I think of him answering questions (or "dumping" on the reporter with the question) I picture him with a sneer on his face and a condescending finger-wagging gesture. The picture on the main page shows him with a broad smile and I was shocked to see it -- out of character, as I remember him. Not sure who wrote about how respected he was -- Mother Goose, maybe.
