David Mamet quotation
editDavid Mamet is one of America's most well-known and celebrated living playwrights. He is also a Pulitzer Prize winning, Tony Award nominated writer who has enjoyed a unique, decades-long, nine-play collaboration with the subject of this article. Including a short paragraph blockquote from him that specifically discusses Nussbaum as an actor, seems like a no-brainer. Still, happy to discuss any opposing views. Copyright problem removed
editPrior content in this article duplicated one or more previously published sources. The material was copied from: http://www.goodmantheatre.org/Artists-Archive/creative-partners/actors/Mike-Nussbaum/ and http://www.chicagomag.com/Chicago-Magazine/October-2014/Mike-Nussbaum/. Copied or closely paraphrased material has been rewritten or removed and must not be restored, unless it is duly released under a compatible license. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or published material; such additions will be deleted. Contributors may use copyrighted publications as a source of information, and, if allowed under fair use, may copy sentences and phrases, provided they are included in quotation marks and referenced properly. The material may also be rewritten, providing it does not infringe on the copyright of the original or plagiarize from that source. Therefore, such paraphrased portions must provide their source. - As already stated on your talk page, the material I included in this article was all reliably sourced and properly attributed. This is clearly explained in both WP:COPYOTHERS and WP:LINKVIO. Please review them.
- If you have a concern about "close paraphrasing" that's a separate issue, which can be discussed separately. However, using proper nouns or statements of fact which are not editorial in nature, does not violate copyright. Unfortunately the duplicate detector tool does not discern the differences in these kinds of content. It simply pulls matches. But not all "hits" are copyvios. Per WP:dupdet, human judgment is always required. In the case of this article, you have removed entire sections of reliably sourced and properly attributed content. Kindly restore them, per WP:DCV; and if you wish to discuss individual sentences, sections or even phrases, I'm more than prepared to have that conversation. X4n6 (talk) 11:03, 18 April 2016 (UTC)
- The issue is NOT close paraphrasing, whole sections have been copied and pasted from here [1] for example "He soon married Annette Brenner, whom he’d met in high school. Their son, Jack, was born a year later, followed by two daughters, Karen and Susan, over the next five years." Theroadislong (talk) 12:37, 18 April 2016 (UTC)
- If you read what I wrote, I did not say the issue was close paraphrasing. I said: "If you have a concern about 'close paraphrasing' that's a separate issue, which can be discussed separately." However, I have reviewed the paragraph you cited against the source and acknowledge they are the same in this instance. That clearly should have be reworded. I also note that in this article I used more direct quotes than I normally would, because of the specific nature of those quotes. Although those direct quotes were always attributed. For example, in using the Mamet quote, which I referenced above, my usage is entirely consistent with WP:NFCCP. X4n6 (talk) 19:49, 18 April 2016 (UTC)
