Fair use rationale for Image:Mikel Arteta.jpg

Image:Mikel Arteta.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Blockquote on England eligibility

I have removed the following blockquote, explaining why Arteta may not represent England internationally:

Article 18

1. If a Player has more than one nationality, or if a Player acquires a new nationality, or if a Player is eligible to play for several representative teams due to nationality, he may, only once, request to change the Association for which he is eligible to play international matches to the Association of another country of which he holds nationality, subject to the following conditions:

(a) He has not played a match (either in full or in part) in an official competition at “A” international level [i.e. non-friendly] for his current Association [i.e. Spain for Arteta], and at the time of his first full or partial appearance in an international match in an official competition for his current Association [i.e. Spain for Arteta], he already had the nationality [i.e. British] of the representative team for which he wishes to play.

FIFA Statutes (August 2009 Edition)

The quote is taken from the reference which is provided with it. Because of the presence of the reference, the inclusion of the quotation as the article is about Arteta, not FIFA eligibility rules. The article just needs to state that he is not able to play for England because he was only eligible for Spain at U21 level, and then put the citation at the end. Ilikeeatingwaffles (talk) 10:39, 25 August 2010 (UTC)

I changed to citation with quote but someone removed. Matthew_hk tc 19:19, 31 August 2010 (UTC)

I did because the above is a synthesise (a legal interpretation and judgement more specifically), which is not allowed per WP:OR. You need a specific reference which clearly states that Mikel Artete is not available to play for England due to FIFA regulation XY. Cheers Sandman888 (talk) 19:22, 31 August 2010 (UTC)

Arsenal transfer not confirmed

Could people stop saying he is an Arsenal player until he actually is? As an Evertonian, I am very annoyed. 85.167.138.120 (talk) 21:12, 31 August 2011 (UTC)

-"On the 31st August, the summer transfer window deadline day, Arteta began to hold talks with Afc Wimbledon over a £10M transfer." Wiki, that's just strange. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.25.39.24 (talk) 21:27, 31 August 2011 (UTC)

It's a done deal as of 23:16, TalkSPORT and the Mirror have passed on confirmation by Arsenal spokesman, Daniel Grayson. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.156.234.174 (talk) 22:17, 31 August 2011 (UTC)

In the opening section, the sentence "After success in Scotland [Arteta] moved to back to Spain to play for Real Sociedad but failed to establish himself within..." doesn't even have a subject. Could someone take care of that? - — Preceding unsigned comment added by Matth314 (talkcontribs)

Just wanted to add Arteta's shirt number in Arsenal. Arteta will wear the No 8 shirt vacated by Samir Nasri. http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/arteta-and-benayoun-squad-numbers-confirmed 109.225.125.157 (talk) 14:20, 1 September 2011 (UTC)

Arteta picture

I feel that the current picture used should be replaced to reflect his current status as an Arsenal player, however as I do not have any experience with non-fair use pictures and others along these lines I won't be able to do this myself.Kieran96336 (talk) 20:56, 20 October 2011 (UTC)

Player's height

There are multiple reliable sources for a height of 5ft 9in imperial or 1.75/1.76 metric, including UEFA, Real Sociedad (via search box "Histórico jugadores y entrenadores de la Real"), Sky Sports website, L'Équipe, Guardian Touchline, the 2010/11 Sky Sports Yearbook, Hugman's 2007/08 PFA Player Records book, etc etc.

Can't find much for 6ft/1.83 apart from the Premier League page. I wonder if it might be an error on input that no-one's bothered correcting. There is Soccerbase, but Soccerbase isn't reliable for heights. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 20:55, 27 February 2014 (UTC)

Feel free to be bold and change it, I rarely (if ever) use Soccerbase as a source for heights. GiantSnowman 09:16, 28 February 2014 (UTC)

183 cm for Arteta is a joke. He is 177 tops. I would like it to be changed--85.54.200.153 (talk) 21:11, 4 April 2016 (UTC)

Release in Summer 2016

Nothing I can link it to yet, but Arsene Wenger confirmed in his pre-match press conference on May 5, 2016, that Arteta will leave Arsenal in July 2016, when his contract expires. See the 9:20 entry http://www.bbc.com/sport/live/35944640. 50.98.164.35 (talk) 09:41, 6 May 2016 (UTC)

The legend

"He's the hero Arsenal deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So we'll hunt him. Because he can take it. Because he's not our hero. He's a silent guardian, a watchful protector. A dark knight. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.23.155.168 (talk) 14:49, 17 May 2016 (UTC)

Assists in stats table

I thought assists were not to be included? The Soccerbase ref doesn't have them, and the Premier League ref has expired (can't face chcking archives for it at present) so it is incomplete at best (only including his English clubs) and completely unsourced at worst. Unless there are any constructive objections (i.e find refs that support the stats) I will rmeove the columns. Thanks. Crowsus (talk) 17:52, 22 May 2018 (UTC)
