Season by Season breakdown of his Arc in the show
editI just tried using a Season-By-Season breakdown with a "Prior to Freighter Mission" arc for Miles. Let me know if you genuinely don't like this new format and think it was better before with a "everything in one arc" format. I personally am split on that issue. Arc
editThe arc chapter states that Miles talks with the spirit using EMP generator, but I believe this to be incorrect. The only logical explanation I find for the usage of a vacuum cleaner is that Miles wanted to make noise so that the grandmother below could not hear what he says or detect the sound of the moving furniture. Miles does not need any EMP device later in the season to talk to Naomi's spirit, or to the spirits of Danielle and Karl...Alcator (talk) 11:44, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, your probably right, but at the same time, we don't know why he did that. In any case, it is clear he can indeed talk to the dead and is not a charlatan. Whippletheduck (talk) 04:38, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
Profession
editIt's my impression that Miles was sarcastic when saying he was collecting soil samples. - Mark Jensen (talk) 11:54, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
- I agree. His profession should stay as something relating his "ghostbusting" work. zeldanum1 9 February, 2008 10:51 AEST
Tips for the "Appearances" section
editThe "Appearances" section is currently written from a very in-universe perspective. It doesn't even mention that all of this takes place in season 4 (refs don't count). What should additionally be there is (IMO) at least the name of his first episode, and that some of his backstory is told in his own and others' flashbacks. See Vala_Mal_Doran#Character_arc as an example for what I think would work better. – sgeureka t•c 19:55, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, actually I'm finding the mix of in- and out of- universe in this article rather confusing. I started copy-editing, but was pretty soon "lost." Also, the lead doesn't really follow the guidelines at WP:LEAD in that it doesn't provide an overview of the article as a whole. --jbmurray (talk • contribs) 08:44, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
GA Review
editThis review is transcluded from Talk:Miles Straume/GA1. The edit link for this section can be used to add comments to the review.
- [1] needs better fair use rationale.
- "The writers wrote the role of Miles specifically for Leung after seeing him guest star on The Sopranos and Leung was the only actor to read for the part." - needs reword
- "Miles is caught by Locke and taken back to boathouse, where Locke temporarily shoves an armed grenade into his mouth" - overuse of Locke... could you reword the second part...
- No negative criticism of him?

- The first three points have been dealt with. The reception section has not been updated for over a month, but at the time it was written, I could not find negative comments from critics. –thedemonhog talk • edits 04:19, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

Was Miles born on the Island
editI know this is getting into the hypotheticals, but the fact is that most people can't communicate with the deceased, yet Miles can. And the show establishes that this is not a 'sham', that he can really do what he claims. I know there is not enough right now to insinuate that the Island had something to do with Miles abillities, but at the same time, should we start getting ready that this may well be the answer for why he is "The way he is"?. Whippletheduck (talk) 19:30, 19 April 2009 (UTC)
- Wikipedia isn't a forum. If and when the source of his gift is revealed it will be added. There is nothing to "get ready for" until that happens. — Trust not the Penguin (T | C) 19:49, 19 April 2009 (UTC)
Well, since the abillity to talk to the dead is not something that most people can do, I am going out on a limb and guess that the Island has something to do with it.....either being born there or being concieved there or some combination of bothWhippletheduck (talk) 23:26, 19 April 2009 (UTC)
