This article was created because of errors in the original Department of the Missouri that asserted that that department was renamed the Division of the Missouri but was "still known as" the Department of the Missouri. Worse, a second article was created, Department of the Missouri (Indian Wars) that made using a move to correct the mistake the improper solution. The Department of the Missouri was and remained a subordinate part of the Military Division of the Missouri throughout its existence. So I went ahead and created the new article, and am adjusting content in the others to reflect.--Reedmalloy (talk) 06:25, 26 January 2012 (UTC)
