Colégio

edit

The Portuguese word "colégio" does not translate into English "college", but rather into "school". Ninguém (talk) 13:25, 21 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

I know that. However, thee are in the present time "Colégios Militares" in several Brazilian cities. These schools are elementary and high school institutions. So, if some day article in english are created about them, they will probably be called "Military School".

While the "Escola Militar" mentioned in this article refers to a Military Academy similar to the American West Point, that is, of higher education. So, to avoid confusion between the "Colégio Militar" and "Escola Militar" in the English Wikipedia, I chosed to translate as "College". - --Lecen (talk) 14:09, 21 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

There are photographs in this article of "Colégio Militar" in Rio de Janeiro and "Colégio Militar" in Porto Alegre - and both captions refer to "Military College". That's the problem I was referring to. Ninguém (talk) 14:57, 29 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
There is no issue about it. Both pictures refer to the Military Colleges that existed in the 19th century in Rio de Janeiro and Porto Alegre. The pictures are not about the "Colégio Militar do Rio de Janeiro" that exist today. If you had read the article you would had understood that. - --Lecen (talk) 16:43, 29 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

GA?

edit

I know this article isn't as big and long as Lecen's FAs on the Brazilian empire are but it looks good. Maybe it can go for GA? Spongie555 (talk) 06:01, 23 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

I spent a lot of time editing this article. I don't see anything else that needs work so I removed the copy edit tag.Coaster92 (talk) 04:51, 16 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
