For reviewing editors: I've prepared this new draft on behalf of Siemens and I want to flag that I have a financial conflict of interest since I am working as a paid consultant to the company. That said, I've been careful to follow guidelines, especially WP:NPOV. Can editors please review the content carefully for neutral tone and promotional language? As I follow the "bright line" and don't edit live articles, if there are any issues that might result in a tag when the article is live, I'd be grateful if you can let me know here so I can help resolve them before it gets moved. Thanks!

Proposed Changes to the MindSphere Wikipedia Article

edit

Hi guys,

I am working for Siemens Digital Industries Software and saw that the MindSphere article needs some updates, as MindSphere updated its messaging and there are some news, worth being mentioned on the timeline. I just complemented the existing article and marked my sources as usual. Please feel free to revise and publish my suggestions! The text in bold is what needs to be added or changed.

Thanks.

Introduction

edit

MindSphere is an industrial IoT as a service solution developed by Siemens. It uses advanced analytics and AI to power IoT solutions from the edge to the cloud.[1] MindSphere enables the collection, aggregation and analysis of operational and enterprise data to lay the foundation for decisions based on valuable, factual information. Built on the Mendix application platform, it also empowers users to quickly build personalized IoT applications.[2] The system is used in areas such as automated production and vehicle fleet management.[2][4]

With the MindAccess IoT Value Plan, users can connect Siemens and non-Siemens assets – as well as brownfield and greenfield environments - to MindSphere with no development required using the asset configuration tool. MindConnect Nano and MindConnect IoT2040 devices can be configured as agents to send device data into a dedicated tenant for storage. You can connect an entire fleet to MindSphere, securely send and store IoT data and visualize and analyze the connected assets. [3] Examples include real-time telemetric data from moving assets like time series data or geographical data, which can be used for predictive maintenance or to develop new analytical tools.

Overview

edit

Users can collect and analyze all kinds of sensor data in real time via MindSphere.[4] This information can be used to optimize products, production assets and manufacturing processes along the entire value chain.[6] With the open application interfaces of MindSphere, it is possible to obtain data from machines, plants or entire fleets irrespective of the manufacturer.[2] These interfaces include OPC Foundation’s OPC Unified Architecture (OPC UA).[7]

To help customers create their own software applications and services, MindSphere is equipped with open application programming interfaces (APIs) and development tools.[2][3] This allows OEMs to integrate their own technology.[8] In addition, users can choose their preferred cloud infrastructure, since MindSphere runs on the major cloud computing providers.

MindSphere is based on the concept of closed feedback loops enabling the bi-directional data flow between production and development:[9] real-world plants, machines and equipment can be connected to MindSphere in order to extract operational data.[2] Valuable information (e.g. “digital twins of performance” of machines) can then be extrapolated from the raw data through analytics and utilized to optimize products as well as production processes and environments in the next cycle of innovation.[3][6][10]
