There is a lot of trivia in this article - imho which particular royals took tea on the line en-route to somewhere else is not really apropriate in a general purpose encyclopaedia. Much of the article reads like it is verbatim copying from somewhere. I've not found anything online so I suspect it is one of the Ffestiniog Railway magazines cited in the references. If that is the source then I suspect (but don't know) that it might be a copyright violation.

I am also not certain that the interchange is still the best. I've not interchanged at Minffordd, but it has to compete with Blaenau Ffestiniog railway station where all you have to do is cross a footbridge. Thryduulf 00:01, 14 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

There is definetely an arguement that it is better at Minffordd-you only have to go down the steps at Minffordd, so it is like half a footbridge. John 08:44, 14 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

As the writer of most of this entry, may I respond. First, allow me to bring you up to date with regard to Blaenau. You no longer have to use a bridge, although its still there, there is now a level foot crossing. The claim with regard to Minffordd is surely historical. Its the world's first ever passenger interchange between standard guage and narrow, it was well designed, and it is still in regular use! As such, it deserves a bit of celebratory trumpeting. On the matter of sources, I have to some extent relied on my own official compilation of the Ffestiniog Railway Heritage Group's FR Chronology, in itself an authorised synopsis of material in the FR Magazine and elsewhere. Other FR Publications have also been used as source material. I do not copy verbatim and I do assure you that the articles concerning the royals were each several pages long and very much more detailed than my brief summaries. As far as trivia is concerned, there is a great deal of trivia throughout Wiki and a great many trivial articles called stubs that need fleshing out. I shall continue in that endevour. Re the source, thats fine, if it is your material then it is obviously OK to release it under the GFDL. It just pays to be suspicious about copyright, particularly with text that reads in a different style.
I agree that the historical interchange needs highlighting, but it is probably best to comment that as of 2006 Blaenau's interchange is of a similarly good standard. Thryduulf 09:25, 15 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

One F not Two

With great respect for the work Noel has done, not only here on the wiki, but in other publication, I must take to task the One F Not Two discussion.

For much of its life, including its act of Parliament, it is referred to as the Festiniog Railway Company. It was only in the 1980's(?) the welsh version of Ffestiniog started to become used, although the company name still hasnt changed.

The Society Magazine did not adopt the double Ff use until 1994, issue 145 and also use of the welsh translation, whilst the Heritage group still uses the single F version as of 15th Dec 2007

In respect of this I have amended some FF / F usage on this page

Interchange

The use of the word interchsange is misleading here, as it was used in declaring it a single station.

The two stations are completely independant in ownership and operation. Whereas Arriva Wales, as the present incumbant standard gauge operator, only has custodial ownership of its station until it loses its franchise, the FR has owned and operated its station for 130 years plus.

Neither body has any responsiblity for the management or maintainance of the others station. --Keith 18:54, 15 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
