Mackenzie King
editMackenzie King was the Department's first deputy minister, so how could he be its first minister? Does anyone know? HistoryBA 8 July 2005 20:15 (UTC)
King was both at different times.cmacd 01:22, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
- XD I knooooowwww wwwwhyyyyy.
- 1900 "William Mulock becomes Canada's first minister of labour."
- [[1]] Mackenzie King was only the first deputy minister of labour. He was named the second ever minister of labour in 1909 by Laurier when King was appointed to his cabinet. Wikipedia doesn't give Mulock the credit he deserves. I'm no wikiist, I'm just a guy doing college level research work on Mackenzie King. Someone else will have to research and edit it properly. Judging by the dates of these entries though, it may take a while before someone gets to it. Poor William Mulock. And that last bit about the position of Minister of Labour not existing until 1909 is waaaaaay off. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.112.56.231 (talk) 20:14, 29 November 2008 (UTC)
Have added Mulock and the two other missing ministers before King from [[2]], but did not have time to check if there are any other mistakes in the complete list. David C Bailey (talk) 21:04, 24 December 2010 (UTC)
HRDC HRSDC HRSDC and SDC

HRDC started HRDC gained a Minister of Labour HRDC was split up into HRSDC AND SDC and had three ministers (human resorces and skills development, Labour and Social Devleopment
Service Canada was started as part of SDC.
HRSDC and SDC merged into one deprtment Human resorces and Social development, the minister of social development was dropped. Service Canada is still part of HRSDC.cmacd 01:27, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
Minister of Labour
editI'm not sure if it's accurate to consider this position the official successor of the "Minister of Labour" since we still have a Minister of Labour in cabinet. Would it be more fair to consider this a new position that is branched off of the Minister of Labour? Because in that case we might need to reorient how the article is worded/how articles redirect. ArmosNights (talk) 12:43, 21 November 2019 (UTC)
- @ArmosNights: Yeah, that part confuses me too. When you look at Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Disability Inclusion it lists Carla Qualtrough as the officeholder but Filomena Tassi serves as the Minister of Labour. So I don't know how to reconcile the two. Snickers2686 (talk) 06:11, 18 December 2019 (UTC)
