Betsuyaku Minoru Bibliography

Introduction • First, I had a bit of trouble finding many book resources that contained huge amounts of information on Betsuyaku Minoru. The artist interview had lots of information that was useful for me. Most sources gave me a brief overview of his life. For example, there were information about his family and how the WW2 has affected his career. I also found information about his college and what style of plays he focused on the most. He has written many plays, around 130 plays, and also wrote some children’s story. This author is unique because his works were not mainstream. He has created a new genre in playwriting, absurd. I would have liked more information of his influences. I was not able to find many sources with what has influenced him through his works. I will also look to find more information about him in other sources such as David Goodman’s Collection. Betsuyaku Minoru’s important facts • Waseda University (He first wanted to be a painter, but changed to theatre there) • “A and B and certain women” (Very first play in 1961) • Becket (Minoru realized realism plays were at an edge) • Foundation of “theatre of absurd” • “Alice in Wonderland”, children plays Current Wikipedia - There is currently no English Wikipedia page for Betsuyaku Minoru. When I type his name only pages with mention of his name comes out. This means that I would have to create a new page for this author. I would follow my description on the “superior Wikipedia page” essay. I would first organize information into sections such as early life, career, influences, plays and etc. I would like to put lots of useful pictures because I believe in the saying that a picture means a thousand words. Also, I would definitely put a list of his works in chronical order so that anyone with interest may find a work from him very easily in my site.
