The Movie, Mr Roberts, Was patterned after a book called Warm Bodies by Donald R. Morris. The book was about life aboard a LST naval ship. In the movie the ship is a small cargo ship used in WWII. The screen play was written around the content of the book Warm Bodies. There are a lot more skits in the book than what was in the movie..
