Death?
editThere is no Mitchell Hooks or M Hooks born 1923 at the Social Security Death Index. It's possible he's registered under a different first name, or that he wasn't born in 1923 as the previous editor gave, or that SSDI hasn't posted it yet, or that he's not dead. An encyclopedia certainly cannot make a claim of someone's death without an incontrovertible reliable source. And that doesn't include someone's anonymous personal blog saying something he heard that may or may not be true. Deaths get reported erroneously on the Internet all the time for just that reason. --Tenebrae (talk) 13:50, 22 March 2013 (UTC)
- One source says Mitch Itkowitz, who runs Graphic Collectibles], is Hooks' agent. There's nothing at Itkowitz's site about Hooks' death.--Tenebrae (talk) 14:15, 22 March 2013 (UTC)
- The Facebook page for Illustration Magazine, which the anonymous personal blog cited, says only, "I just received the sad news" about Hooks' death. Again, an anonymous Facebook writer saying he or she heard about something somewhere, with no indication of where this news came from or whether he or she heard it secondhand, is not something on which an encyclopedia can state someone's death definitively and unequivocally. Again, erroneous reports of death are all over the Internet. And the Illustration website itself says nothing about this. --Tenebrae (talk) 14:27, 22 March 2013 (UTC)
- Confusingly, there's also a second Illustration website, which may or may not be related to the first. --Tenebrae (talk) 14:29, 22 March 2013 (UTC)
