references

edit

Where are they? Seems they cannot be accessed. EtherDoc (talk) 17:47, 18 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

OK, now I have returned actual refernces to the text. I don't like using websites as references, but it's a start. Journal articles and books are better. Today I have returned the references to the original website references so at least readers can click on a reference and actually get somewhere. Before today the references were renamed without linking them to anything. I would appreciate if anyone could subsitute actual books or journal articles instead of the websites used. Thanks. It states in the article that "When the valve is too damaged to repair, the valve must be replaced with an artificial valve[6]." This is not necessarily so! One solution is to replace the mitral valve of the patient with one from a human cadaver, which is obviously not artificial. Another option is to use a pig (porcine) mitral valve or a mechanical one, both of which I suppose are artificial (i.e. non-human).

  - yes I have fixed this EtherDoc (talk) 17:47, 18 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

I would have edited the article, but I have not the faintest idea how. I should be grateful if someone could research this point, and if they agree with me to edit for me.

Thanks.

update needed

edit

The complications and survival rate reported is for 1990-96. this is twenty years later, and things should be different.

Additionally, ref 6 is an advertisement, emphasisizing the good results atthat particular center. It should not be used. DGG ( talk ) 05:57, 23 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

odd language in "risks" section

edit

Regarding: "One wonders whether any of the patients in either group in this analysis underwent any mechanical cardiac valve replacement." This sentence suggests original research and also seems out of place. What analysis is it talking about? --Allen (talk) 14:07, 10 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
