Reality

edit

"A mixed reality game (or hybrid reality game) is a game which takes place in both reality and virtual reality simultaneously" seems an odd wording, as it implies that a person playing a traditional chess game on a computer would not be playing it "in reality". What's wrong with "both virtual and physical environments" here? --McGeddon (talk) 16:17, 17 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

environment in just a strange word to use, because if it is mixed reality, then only certain game elements could be virtual while the player is in the physical. What is the environment in that context? I don't like the reality AND virtual either, sounds weird indeed. I think the books definition of not being purely in one or the other is nice. Otherwise, we have to go with "blend" which is rather redundant when describing something mixed. These definitions are touchy, because if you get them wrong, you exclude part of the domain suddenly.--K.Nevelsteen (talk) 21:35, 17 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion

edit

I have removed the prod. This subject is clearly notable big time. Besides the fact that such games are becoming popular, and thus something our readers will want to know about, there is a huge amount of academic research on the subject;

The claim by the prod nom that the article is "esoteric and isolated research from a single person" (de Souza and Sutko – actually two persons) is quite ludicrous when the first sentence definition of the subject is from a different paper by different authors (Bonsignore et al.). None of those authors overlap with the authors of the papers I cited above so without digging very deep at all we already have a large number of researchers here.

At worst, the page could be returned to its original redirect to Alternate reality game, or else to Mixed reality#Entertainment. To be clear, I oppose redirecting. It is much better to leave the article in place and let it develop, but in any event, deletion is not justified. SpinningSpark 09:52, 16 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
